Oswaldo spent six weeks, during November and December, working in Berkeley University, in California. Here he is pictured with Debbie in her laboratory. They worked very hard together on lab projects and have some wonderful ideas for research, especially on problems that concern developing countries. Oswaldo was awarded the funds to go on the trip through an ASM grant and it was a wonderful experience for him. I stayed in Quito and continued teaching. We missed each other greatly and I was very pleased when he arrived home in time for Christmas!
